[Harp-L] What position am I playing?

M. Erickson
You are in second position.

If the song is in C, then second position is F.
(F is the relative Major of Dm, the harp you are using, and has the same key signature---one flat, which is Bb)

If the song is in G, then second position is C.
(C is the relative Major of Am, the harp you are using, and has the same key signature---no sharps or flats.)

So, to answer your question, first find the second position for the key the song is in. Then use the harp in the relative minor of that key. (If the song is already in a minor key, just find the second position.) For example, suppose the song is in A. Second position is D. Bm is the relative minor of D so Bm is your harp of choice.
