I just tried the slide licks on a c harp beginning on the g (9-blow) and it
worked pretty well.
When I tried the g (6-blow), it sounded like Crosby, Stills and Nash had
stolen Derek's stash, so I didn't like that too much.
But at the high end of the harp, you can do note per note all the slide
licks.

Go for the c-major-seventh!  A country-tuned f-harp would have you "slidin'"
along nicely. 
I think the bridge progression is a-minor, d-minor g and back home to c.
Good luck!  I've never tried that before!
