Re: [Harp-L] tuning reeds
You can make your own wands. Take a stack of 10 popsicle sticks.
Clamp them together. Cut the ends at a 45 degree angle. Coat the
stack with contact cement. Slam the stack down onto a piece of emory
paper. I use 260, 400 & 600. Place a motorcycle, personal watercraft
battery or other heavy object on top and let set for a couple hours.
Then take an exacto knife (I use a Gem single edged razor blade) and
cut down between the sticks into the paper.
While using, as the paper 'loads-up' with brass, slice back into the
fresh paper. One stick will last for 6-7 harps or 2 full re-tunes on
a chromo 16.

Rich, I found a sanding wand at a local model train shop, under $5,
it's got a nice tapered tip, and uses a narrow band of sandpaper
(I'm using 320 grit, coded green) that can be advanced around as
it's worn. Easy does it! "The Detail Sander by NWSL (see nwsl.com )
I also use it to scrape away the rust that some say doesn't occur
on nickel, brass and phosphor bronze. . .

Hello,
Any
recommendations for tools for tuning reeds and where to get them. I
like the idea of a dremel like rotary tool and the shofu brownee
attachment. But don´t know specific model numbers or places to
purchase
them. Any advice on those or any better methods greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Rich
