Re: [Harp-L] RE: Discography of Grateful Dead and associated groups/Palm Sunday

I'd be surprised if it wasn't harp on Palm Sunday. Maybe just an act of sheer, unabashed humility to leave it uncredited... or a little game to keep people talking about it for years to come? Is anyone on this list in contact with Will Scarlet to ask him straight up about Palm Sunday? I've got a friend who works with Donna Jean Godchaux when she's in the area, I'll ask my friend to ask Donna, maybe she'd know.

Jim.

Yes, the notes even on the reissued box set list no harmonica credit. Either it's John Kahn playing some synthesized keyboard harp or Steve Schuster, the sax/clarinet/flutes player playing some electronically altered and/or multi-tracked version of some of those instruments, I would guess. Sure sounds like harp though.

Recently questions around Will Scarlett's recording activities led me to this site:

http://www.deaddisc.com

It gives discographical information for the Grateful Dead and several associated performers and groups.

The
entry for Jerry Garcia's Cats under the Stars does not list a harmonica
player, so whether it's Will Scarlett, Matt Kelly, or some other
instrument sounding like a harmonica, is a mystery.
