I last saw Blues Traveler in July 2007 but agree with most of Richard's
comments. Regarding the desire to hear him with a different band, I
would recommend you check out the John Popper Project. It's the same
bass player from BT (who is superb, in a setting where you can hear
him), plus a new drummer and DJ Logic on the turntables. Popper's harp
playing is often slower and more experimental in this band, delving into
Eastern and psychadelic sounds. The songs all blend into one another,
and most are instrumentals; when he sang, I couldn't understand him and
wasn't sure that Popper was going for clarity anyway. It all makes for a
very interesting and exotic sound that is quite distinct from Blues
Traveler. They have toured a couple of times and hopefully will do so
again soon.
