RE: [Harp-L] Re: Auto Tune
Thanks for sharing--
Hmm, sounds like you can do a lot with harp source material and digital
tools. I am long overdue to try to record product--this is encouraging!
Should be no surprise that they can pull this off, it's been years now they
have been doing it with singers . . .

Subject: [Harp-L] Re: Auto Tune
I was hired last year to go into the studio and add harp tracks for a singer
that I know. He was doing a CD of inspirational tunes from Broadway and
Film. I was asked to play on a number of tunes that were way out of my
wheelhouse. Most of these were tunes that should have been played on
chromatic but alas I am just a diatonic boy! I can do some overblowing and
did so on somet but there was one tune that there was no way I could
smoothly pull of what they wanted. I was told to just play it wrong and they
would "fix " the offending note. It was amazing how quickly they made me
sound like Howard Levy! I was a little embarrassed to share this on the
board last year but now that the topic has come up I had to come clean.
Bottom line I was paid $200 bucks for 3 hours work. They were the boss and I
was the employee. They got what they wanted and I got paid.
Here is a link to my website where I have posted one of the songs from that
session: Accentuate the Positive. It may take a few seconds to download
http://harptime.com/id4.html This is obviously not the song that was
"doctored" up! The CD has been selling ok for Frank via his concerts and on
CD Baby. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/rendo4 My parts were pretty much scripted
by the producer and engineer. They wanted things very simple to just color
the music. Simple is what I do best!
