No thanks....

I agree that there's nothing wrong with either of those....or any one of a
dozen other topics of conversation here on the 'L'.

I also agree that Little Walter was a brilliant and innovative player by
any and all standards.

...but instructing us all to 'pro it up' and talk about Little Walter
'instead of' or to the exclusion of any other just might get decidedly boring
and a lot too dictatorial for those of us on the list who are NOT "pro's"
or who play chromatics or chords or bass harmonicas and whose music is not
remotely connected to Little Walter's style, capisce?

This might come as a surprise but the list isn't here only for Blues
players - or for purely diatonic guys. There are women and chromatic players
here, classical players and jazz players....people who play only music in
their churches on Sundays or on their back porches and some who play only what
even they would call 'oldtimey' music; country players and some who would
refer to their playing as country AND western.

I would guess that there might EVEN be people here from other countries who
don't know much at all about Little Walter and who don't really want to
talk or know about him because Blues isn't 'a feeling' for them despite how
ingrained it is into American music or even how widespread it's
disseminated into other parts of the world. They're more geared to harmonicas the way
they were developed in the early days of Hohner in Germany and the rest of
Europe.

Don't they have the right to still talk about or hear about harmonica
information and discussions related to their instrument and what would
interest them even while you want to talk about Little Walter? ...or others talk
about gear? My eyes glaze over when the talk turns to amps and tubes, yet I
respect that it's a huge interest for an awful lot of people here.

It always somewhat amazes me when some people don't seem to realize the
hugeness of the harmonica community - or that there are people from all over
the Globe playing the instrument and perhaps even lurking here.

...so please, let those who want to do so, do so, and let those who want to
talk about other things continue to express themselves as often and as
freely as they see fit.

I for one am currently eager to hear about Abner's very first Jason Ricci
LIVE show experience, since one's first time at a JR&NB show is usually
very difficult to put into words the next day for even a die-hard harp player.
Probably the best review I've ever read about him was Smo-joe's when he
went back for a second go-round in his own neighbourhood at Jason's
invitation a year or so ago.

I'm actually hoping MRS. Blueeyes writes a review...
