[Harp-L] TB/LP ???
i've been following this discussion w/interest because it sort of
validates something i have been thinking for a long time: A really
good TB player bends with as much power and can play with as much
speed LP player, and a LP player w/ good deep embouchure who can
articulate notes from the diaphragm can play with tone just as good
as a TB player.
BUT, TBing does allow the player to get the harmonica in the mouth
past the teeth which unquestionably provides a fuller resonance
chamber. I've never agreed with those who claim that a player HAS to
be a nearly full time TBer to have good tone or play well. BUT,
being able to get the harmonica deep enough in the mouth to be past
the teeth can provide a significant advantage for tone production,
at least in the low and middle registers.
Just my opinion, FWIW.
