[Harp-L] Little Walter. TB or Pucker

Kim told me straight out that towards his later days and even in his earlier
recordings, LW used Pucker more and more. Just listen to that Essential
Little Walter CD or anything and you can hear that puckering going on. I am so
glad Kim share something I always wanted to ask him, but wanted to do it in
person. All this time of trying to do all TB I now finally feel free. At least I
can play everything TB'd now, all bends, with vibrato, just not on top where
it would take years to learn if you are not Mitch. I don't care what his
students are taught, I know for certain MK is a pure TB'er. Hanging with Clarke
for all the years he did is evident in his playing.
I do personally believe one should learn and play fully TB'd until you
can do either, as that is what makes your pucker so strong, it all comes from
the same place, deep in your mouth cavity. If you only pucker you will tend
to be a mouth player and that is a thin tone, squeezing your cheeks to bend
notes, not being fully relaxed and playing deep. Thank you all and to those who
have in common what I do and offer support. I have all the knowledge I need
and just need to bite the bullet, I have one more surgery before starting the
TX.
Sincerely, Sonny Jr.
