Aide in getting to know how to play in 5th position 
(E on a C harp) can be found here;

there are 25 typical blues scale riffs that can be both "seen" & heard

The only technical requirements are the capicity to bend to Bb & A on the 3 hole.

These examples/exercises are also treated in 4th position (A on a C harp)

Similarily 3rd position (D on a C harp) introducing the (Ab) bend on the 6 draw

requires the 1st bend on the 3 hole (the aforementioned Bb) 
& the 4 hole(C#/Db) bend.
