Well, the fates play interesting tricks. Al Kooper was in the studio when
Dylan was recording "Like a Rolling Stone". He was asked if he could play
the organ - being young, dumb and full of confidence, he said "Sure", when
he really didn't know much about organ, but had a little keyboard
influence. The result of his pedestrian noodling around became that
signature organ riff that is totally identified with this tune.
Unfortunately everyone and his roadie has too much harmonica confidence.
If Al Kooper's organ part had sounded like the harmonica part on this
Springsteen record, Like A Rolling Stone would not have had an organ part.
