I'm not a Springsteenista, but I admire the guy's music. Someone played
me a couple of cuts from his new recording this morning, and I liked them
well, except for one.
Two cuts that I heard had harp on them. One had a wonderful single note
harmonica sting in a few places, and it was a really good use of the harp.
The other, however, called Good Eye, had terrible harmonica from beginning
to end, the worst sloppy blow and draw I have ever heard on a high profile
rock record, like a child who was never going to get any good.
If a guitar player with that level of skill tried to get work on a Bruce
Springsteen record, he'd be told to come back in 5 years.
I find this stuff eternally discouraging.
