Re: [Harp-L] Average vs. Pro
"If only the best bird sang, the forest would be a very
quiet place." I heard it first from Marvin Monroe referring
to harmonica players.

Subject: [Harp-L] Average vs. Pro
I¹ve been watching from the side lines so to speak. I feel
pretty strongly
that the average guy isn¹t getting as much respect as he is
due. However,
Average Guy isn¹t attacking the music or how it¹s played.
He¹s just
exercising the right to make a mark, have fun and
participate... Isn¹t that
what it¹s all about? I whole-heartedly agree though that
those who have
studied, practiced and devoted many years to this craft
SHOULD hold it to
the highest standard. If we (Average) looked to ourselves
for advice, we
could never reach those standards. But we trust that you
(pros) can tell us,
show us and teach us what we need to strive for. I guess
what I¹m trying to
say is that Ying and Yang are evident here and both of us
should embrace our
existence. We know that we¹re average, without being told. I
will agree that
the Average guy should NOT try to assume the role as Pro
just because
technology and the internet have no laws or rules governing
such a thing.
(Reference- man with large ears on Youtube teaching ³how to
bend a
harmonica²) But rather than attack, admire his ambition,
give him advice and
you¹ve pushed another Average guy in the direction of that
higher standard.
Be nice, we¹re trying...
Thanks,
Randy Power --
