[Harp-L] Johann Schunk "Phoenix" Harmonica

Here's information about the Johann Schunk harmonica company, of Brunndobra
(now Klingenthal), Germany.

The company was founded in 1871 by Johann Schunk, and the harmonicas were
labeled as such, until 1920.
After that, the name was changed to "Burgtor Harmonika Fabrik Johann
Schunk."

The Johann Schunk label will tell you that it was made before 1921, and the
"Burgtor..." after 1920.

The Schunk company went through a merger in 1930, with the
Rauner-Seydel-Bohm companies (unsuccessfully disbanded),

In 1960, the Burgtor... was nationalized by East Germany, and converted into
an automotive parts factory.

The Schunk trademark is a circle with a 3-topped castle inside the circle.

What is your "Phoenix" worth? That depends on demand, and it's condition,
and it's vintage. The older it is , the more valuable it is.

Without seeing it or hearing it, I'd guess between $25-$75, a conservative
estimate.
