Re: [Harp-L] Harp amps

That is true in two situations:

1- You want a really clean tone, or

2- You will be using signal processors (such as the Digidesign RP 250) to
alter your tone for a warmer sound.

Most harp players use amps that add some warmth to the tone. These amps
usually rely on old-fashioned tubes rather than solid state electronics (but
not always).

It depends on what kind of sound you want to achieve. If you aspire to a
honky or gritty tone, you won't get there with the keyboard amp alone. If
you will be playing Irish melodies, for example, the keyboard amp may be
perfect.

As an aside, most "music store dudes" I've met don't know jack about harp.
Never take their advice without checking with other harp players first.
