I use and love the option 5 Destination Rotation for
Leslie sounds on harp. An earlier model than sold here
http://www.option5-online.com/option5.html Listen to
video sample. Of all my in-store tests, and hearing
online samples, this one sounds the best to me! (I even
laid on the floor behind a big lesie cabinet in the
organ shop to record on cassette the spinning "whoosh"
of the lower rotor, fast and slow. Just Amp hiss, no
signal.)
It's very much appreciated in a four piece blues band
with one guitar and no keys. Harp can add some soft
Leslie lines for R&B and even some full chords at
times. (Givin it up for your love). Slow sultry songs
using LO natural Minor is effective on "Thrill is gone"
and "Hold that Train Conductor."
I started using a second-hand Korg Toneworks AX100G
multi-effects pedal years ago (inexpensive) and went
through all the possibilities. Digital distortions
don't sound good to me for harp, but Tap (tempo) Echo
is my favorite! I use pitch shifting for the Mickey
Raphael tremolo harps. Basic WAH pedal is fun on old
"Shaft"-like tunes (big chords). I like the reverbs,
too.
I tried to get the Sugar Blue sound with small amount
of pitch-shifting to create a standing wave, plus
distortion, and EQ, but nothing came respectably close.
I DO love the intensity of his sound which demands its
place in the mix beside any guitar! Anyone accomplish a
good replica?
