I find over thinking gets in the way of everything (this is based
on my own personal over thinking demon.) If you've got the chops,
let them out. Listen to the other musicians... maybe choose one
instrument you're playing with an have a little back and forth/in
and out kind of thing... then choose another... the other
instrument doesn't even necessarily have to be aware you're doing
this. The greatest thing, IMO, is when a band or even a duo,
becomes one... imagine that... a gestalt kind of thing if you
will. tasty. Examples of this oneness I would say are, The
Meters, THe Foghorn Stringband, Tom Sauber and Mark Graham, The
Improbabillies.
