About the Madcat rack harp on a stand-
There is definitely a microphone in there! It is a very small
dynamic mic. It is a cassette machine replacement microphone that I
bought the mic at Radio Shack about 30 years ago (before inexpensive
condenser mics were available). The difficult part was cutting a hole
in the back of that binder clip. That spring metal is tough stuff!
The microphone cable runs through the boom stand. One of my better
inventions...
Look at another one of my YouTube videos:

If you scroll through to around 2:53, you can clearly see the
microphone cord plugged into the bottom end of the boom stand.

The joys of Harp-L - nothing like hearing it from the horse's mouth (no equine comparison intended!)
That truly is a neat invention. Any size harp, held the right distance from the mic element and all 'hands free'. I guess the whole stand is the mic shell, as the connection is at the end of the boom. Very tidy! It would be interesting to try a whole bunch of different sorts of elements in a rig like that.
Thanks
