[Harp-L] Gunslingers
When you play a Concerto you are a "Gunslinger" kind of like the guy
who comes in to save the town; I have always thought of my role this
way. This does not have to have a negative connotation if the
intention is all in good fun. You are not there to destroy someone's
life or reputation, just blow them away.
Speed is not the only way to do this; incredible tone and phrasing can
make speed seem just fast, but not music. The Bebop guy who blows all
the other players off the stage only to notice the cat with the smooth
tone is the one who everybody loves.
The nice part about music is that it is subjective; unlike the
Olympics the one who finishes first is not always the winner.
