Re: [Harp-L] delay or reverb

A number of dedicated reverbs and delays have been mentioned in this thread, and they're all good gear. I feel obliged to note that the Digitech RP150/155, 250/255, and 350/355 all have excellent delays and reverbs, and you can even use both at once with any of those devices. As of SPAH 2009, Slim Heilpern's setup included an RP150 dedicated to reverb alone. The 150/155 retail new at about $100 US, and you can find used ones in very good condition in the neighborhood of half that price. (Note: the earlier RPs, like the RP100 and 200, had very nice delays but not-very-good reverbs, and I would avoid them if high-quality reverb is important to you.) It's nice to have a single pedal on stage that gives you both delay and 'verb, and the delays and reverbs in the RPs sound very good with harp.

It takes a lot of time and effort to program the RP devices to produce amp-modeled sounds for harp, but it's easy to set one up to do reverb or delay only--just turn all the other FX off. If you get a 250 or 255, you can also set it up so that the footpedal controls how much reverb or delay you have in the mix--very nice when you want to have a big effect arrive out of nowhere.

And of course, if you ever decide that you also want effects like chorus, flange, etc., the RP has you covered.

Overall a pretty cost-efficient way to get a bunch of good reverbs and delays in a stage-friendly package.
