[Harp-L] Playing the Harp while driving

Thank you brother Ritter for your story. I cannot imaging getting up that
early. I can sleep for 10 hours if allowed. But that is off the topic.

I realize that this is a dogma issue for many but I think that making this
issue a black and white issue is a fallacy. When I play my harmonica or
listen to audio books or talk on my hands free phone, I drive
less aggressively and more, dare I say, safely. I am not focused on winning
the traffic game. I drive the same route to and from work every day. 95%
highway. If I am not slightly distracted by something active, my mind
wanders all over the place and I am not in control of my distraction. I will
also agree that such distractions keep me wide awake. I also must thank my
God that I survived times when I was fighting very hard to not nod off. That
has never happened with controlled distractions.

On the other hand I cannot imagine playing harmonica on a bicycle. Any
slight variation in steering on a bike leads to significant direction
changes. I would kill myself within minutes. Not distraction but control
being the issue.
