Do any of you apply lip balm such as chap stick prior to playing. Maybe a
cleaning of my harps once or twice a year may help. LOL. Trying that new
stuff Abreva will update as I am sure you all are curious about my lip
condition.
Cleaning sure does help. I used whatever metal polish my mom was using. I
recal Noxon. Remember, Noxon is noxoN spelled backward.
They used big buckets of the stuff to polish the brass, once a week, at the
Brill Building.
Now I use whatever metal cleaner my wife has lying around. The black
enamel-ish paint on the Fire Breaths seems to just need a wet rag for cleaning.
My lips must've finally gotten used to harps because I haven't needed any
treatment in 30 years. Back in the day I found that chapstick didn't do
the job, but warmed vaseline did. They now have tons of vaseline lip
products. My subtly calloused lips just laugh at them, however.
