Sorry, that should be "Meilleures" as "félicitations" is feminine..
Mile excuses.

Now this might enable me to find the answer to a question that's been bothering me for years.

In France, they seem to refer to notes not by letters - C, G etc - but by the sol fa scale. So C is always "do", F is "fa", D is "ré" etc. And Eb is "Mib".

Check the liner notes for J-J's excellent 1974 album Spécial Intrumental for endless illustrations of this. I've seen it elsewhere in tutor books etc too.

So... does that mean if a tune is in, say, G, the tune is in "so", and the fourth degree of the scale, which is C, is therefore referred to as "do", even though logically (in our logic) it should be "fa"?

Aidez-moi SVP!

My book Harmonica For Dummies has now been published in French as "Harmonica pour les nuls."

Renowned French harmonica player Jean-Jacques Milteau is co-credited on the cover; he played a major role in rendering the book into the language of Piaf and Rimbaud.

Harmonica pour les nuls is available now on Amazon.fr in France and in Canada via Renaud-Bray (Amazon.ca doesn't yet list it).
