[Harp-L] Mojo not Working

>From: Jonathan Compton <jofjltn4@xxxxxxxxxxx "...However, there's another aspect of this >that could be in play, that it isn't in your playing but in your own *perception* of your playing. >I've had many nights where I thought I was playing without the mojo, but in listening to the >recordings, it was just fine."

I've had this too. I did a fire inspection for an outdoor concert. the band was a blues band. we got talking and they invited me to sit in. I got my harps and did (yes in uniform). turns out they play almost no 12 bar blues. lots of odd chord changes that i had a hard time following. lead singer kept saying, "add more rythm parts", i was trying not to step on anyone and play too much, besides being lost on some of the changes. I thought I was terrible, just couldn't get the mojo going. Afterward, they said thanks and complemented my playing, saying they were surprised how good i was (yeah, yeah, being nice). then asked what i was doing the next night, they wanted me to play with them at their next gig! i guess it wasn't so terrible after all. and no i couldn't make the gig, i was working the regular job that pays the bills. :-)
