I think you mean Draw 5 (not Draw 7) is the root note in 12th position.
It's true that 3d position and 12th position share notes, such as the minor pentatonic in 3rd and the major pentatonic in 12th. The only thing that is different is which note is the "home" note.
That said, even the most familiar playing pattern can feel totally strange to play if you shift the home note. Try playing 3rd position against a drone note that gives you the home note for 3rd (such as a D-note drone in 3rd position on a C harp), then playing the same patterns using a drone that plays the home note of 12th position (such as F on a C harp).

Using draw 7 as root, draw 6 is the 3rd, so you can bend it for a flat 3rd if
you want to. all of this is a work in progress for me. some one else pointed
out that the minor pentatonic scale in Third position is the same breath pattern
as the major pentatonic scale in 12th position. So, playing in 12th is sort of
like playing in Third...i think (?).
