Fwd: [Harp-L] Some questions for chromatic players..(2)

oh yes, one other thing.

Since taking up the chrom properly (started last summer... long way to go....)I figured out that I'd be far better off playing pucker style, so I've had to put in some very hard work un-learning tongue blocking, i.e. getting out of the habit of automatically TBing. It's taken some doing, although a bout of very unpleasant mouth ulcers a few weeks back were very useful in that they made tongueblocking (as well as eating, speaking etc)impossible for a while..

I found you can get far more single-note expression, volume etc on a chrom with a pucker. Save the TB for octaves. As a result, I've also gone back to puckering with diatonic too, especially on irish, melodic, jazz and multi-position stuff. Just keep the TB for good old bog-standard overblow-free blues.
