[Harp-L] The Marine Band Crossover is here !

Hey Sunnyside!

How ya doin'?  I saw the Crossover picture, thanks, looks nice, but I still don't get the appeal of recessed comb with the brass rails, let alone the moustache-catcher covers.  Also, the double-bolts on each end make for tougher emergency repairs.  Once at a jam at Saxophone in Montpelier I had to open my sp20 mid-song to free a reed, couldn't have done that with the Crossover, at least not easily and quickly.

Of course I'm an old sp20 sucker so what do I know!?

Aside from the cool-looking bamboo - and the doubtless better sound it creates (has that been debated!?) - what's different about it?  I presume the tuning is not standard Richter?

Dave Fertig  (ps: I CAN'T go to Saint Aignan!  Ack!! My entourage is hijacking me that weekend to Bourgogne instead!  I will have to drown my sorrows in some DRC... Any good jams in Beaune?)

Hohner
has launched a new harp this week at the Frankfurter Musikmesse in
Germany! It's the Marine Band Crossover. Steve Baker has worked quite a
lot on it's conception..
Here's the picture:

Main
new feature: a bamboo comb that, IMHO, gives a greater projection than
the Deluxe. The harp is aimed at players that play different styles of
music, I have been told. Will be available in Europe in the summer. No
princing yet!
