Subject: Re: [Harp-L] Daddy's Gone to Knoxville - For Smojoe and David Payne

have to echo everything SmoJoe says about christelle's playing. I'm
completely blown away by her. Her melodious phrasing, her complete understanding of
a song from a vocalist's standpoint..and from 'inside' the song. She gets
the entire meaning...whether it's pathos, love, joy, heartbreak...she manages
to convey every nuance to the listener. I like a lot of harmonica players. I
only love a couple of harmonica players. Christelle is one of the latter and
the only harmonica player I want to play EXACTLY like, or who touches my
heart with every note, every phrase.

I'm a huge fan of Jason Ricci's....and she plays in a style which would
complement his (I'd give anything to hear them both together on the same stage
and on a recording). I'd also love to hear her and SmoJoe duet
together...since there's a general simpatico working with all three of them, as well as
major talent. Whoo!

One thing, Smokey...she isn't going to go to Florida and live in the
Boondocks, lol...I want her to come to New York and be my teacher, before she
becomes rich and famous. So there. ;)

I can't imagine why she hasn't been snapped up by some huge record company
and major producer...what's wrong with people out there? Don't they have ears?

Ciao Bella, you couldn't have known when you sent this that it was on
my birthday. What a wonderful present. I have listened to it several
times (as well as all your other work as soon as I can get it), and I
have to tell you that you are about the cleanest, smoothest player I
have ever heard. You need to get an agent. Country is very big in
Denmark and the rest of Scandinavia right now. You need to cash in on
that. You need to do it NOW.

love Jose di la fumare

Why aren't YOU doing workshops? I'm going to loose friends and make
enemies here, but there isn't anyone who can touch you. Are there
faster players? Yes. Are there fancier players? Yes. Are there more
SOULFUL, clean, precise, smooth, (yada yada) players? No.

I REALLY appreciate you sending these in a way that I can get to them
without having to give my e-mail, joining something, &/or having the
hassle of having to come up with a password. I'm saving them. I'm
printing them on photo quality paper AND, here's the deal.

I want you to move next door to me instead of that Bumphus family.
That way, when I'm lying in my bed dying, I can hear you practicing.
That would make it all having been worthwhile. There, I said it.
That's the way I feel.
