[Harp-L] amp recommendations

You didn't say what kind of music you play or what kind of tone you're after, but for my money, for a warm, overdriven sound, the best small harp amp of all is the Kalamazoo Model 1 or Model 2. These were mid 60's vintage practice amps - cheaply made. But that's why they sound so good for harp - the power supply sags when you lean on it, and it has a wonderful crunch. I have rebuilt 50 of these amps - I hope that qualifies me as knowing what I'm talking about. Please see my web page http://www.blowsmeaway.com/kalamazoo.html for more info.

I keep a waiting list, but I have 3 excellent Model 2's in very good condition, completely reworked and offered with warranty -- available right now and my waiting list appears to want to keep waiting - I think maybe one is sold. They have until 5PM tonight, after that they're available.

Kalamazoo's are louder than most comparable amps (10" speaker, 5-8 watts) - but they are definitely NOT loud enough for larger gigs or jams without being mic'd. They are highly coveted as recording amps, and are useful in smaller gigs, practice and rehearsal.

Please contact me off list if interested.
