[Harp-L] Bob Dylan as a Harmonica Player - Spivey Record
I have a Spivey LP #1004 entitled Three Kings And The Queen that Dylan
plays on two cuts with Big Joe Williams, and sings backup on one. This
was recorded in 1962 and I'll have to say that Bob was playing blues
harmonica here. I agree with Richard, Not virtuoso but he was in the
pocket and knew what he was doing. Great tone and phrasing and exactly
the kind of stuff I learned from. I do not know if this has been re-
released on CD or not but I think it's a really cool one! On a non
harp related note the Three Kings are Roosevelt Sykes, Big Joe Wiliams
and Lonnie Johnson and the Queen is Victoria Spivey. One of my
favorite records.
