Rob P stated:
"Tonite I was honored to wish Danny Wilson a Happy 73rd Birthday from the
stage in Ft. Myers...He drove 3 hrs with his lovely wife Lorraine to spend
his big day with BS&T and we had a blast with the Edison Pops Symphony
Orchestra
Danny is an inspiration to us all and I wish him many more......"
To which I respond:
Rob has long been a very dear friend, fellow harmonica artist par
excellence, and SPAH attendee as time permitted.
But I want to say that the concert at Edison College Green in Ft Myers
was a total surprise, knowing his unpretentious attendance at SPAH
Conventions over the years. It was a real eye-opener, being placed on
stage as MC, harmonica player and vocalist, fronting the great
40-year-old band, Blood, Sweat and Tears. His activities also of
course included dancing, jumping and other physical activities which
caught Lorraine and me by total surprise. Not that we thought he
would not have the ability, but that he was so agile and comfortable
in his activity. We were in awe, to state it plainly.
Over 2000 people were in attendance at this outdoor concert, backed
by the Edison Symphony. He even introduced me to the audience as a
guest from Hudson, stating that I was also a "great harmonic player,"
celebrating my 73rd.
My point: if anyone has the opportunity to catch one of their shows,
do NOT pass it up.
