I never called it anything but curling my tongue, but U-blocking sounds
good. My Dad taught my brother and I when we were kids and that's how
we've always played. I realize now that it has something to do with
genetics and everybody can't curl their tongue that way. but about half
of the people I teach can.

I keep the harp parked between my
lips and practice playing one then two holes back and forth. I now have
about 5 holes that I can reach without moving the harp.

This appears to be U-blocking -- that is, rolling the tongue and moving it back and forth along the reed holes.



I can roll my tongue, but what are the exercises you need to do to start out playing this way?



Are there any practice tips to get going?
