[Harp-L] Jazz and Magic
Checj out "Little Car Blues" by Magic and Jay. They delve into their past-the opening tune was inspired by Art Blakey and Miles Davis. He uses the "Magic" harp on "Tonight With A Fool".
The third tune,"The Jumpin' Blues" was written by Jay McShann in 1942. Magic paraphrases
Charlie Parker's beginning solo on this tune. Charlie Parker played alto sax in Jay's band.
Hot leftover is short, but Magic plays some great Louis Armstrong licks on this.
"Hot Leftover no.2-Black and Tan Fantasy" is also a short tune-the Duke Ellington tune
from 1927.
"Some Sweet Day" is also included here-Louis Armsrtong from 1933,featuring the Magic harp.
This cd also features some Junior Wells, Little Walter and Jimmy Rogers tunes-a must have
for any harp player.
