The idea of playing a screamingly high solo on saxophone is a common idea heard from many, many players. Coltrane may happen to be where Magic Dick heard the idea, but it could have as easily been R&B players like Louis Jordan or Big Jay McNeely or many others. In other words, this doesn't amount to a significant Coltrane influence. However, in an interview it can sound impressive when a harmonica player names somebody cosmic like Trane - it's not what people expect.
For that matter, the screaming high solo is common enough on harmonica. I was playing that 10blow-10bend-9blow high lick before I ever heard of Magic Dick (I felt ripped off when I heard him play it on a J Geils record); I probably got the general idea (but not the lick) from some of John Sebastian's work backing Tim Hardin.
