Re: [Harp-L] What we would like Hohner,Seydel, etc. to do
Seydel already has it, it was an outgrowth of their first low tuning endeavors early on. THey'll make any custom tuning you want, full valve, half-valve. It's far less than double retail, it's about 30 percent extra. They priced me out of most tunings, I can still do stuff like paddy richter cheaper, but for anything major, I just have Seydel do it.
You can do stuff like have a chromatic like two 12-hole diatonics in different keys.. button out a Db solo tuned harp, button in an F# solo tuned for example...You can do all kinds of crazy stuff. If you look at an 1847 reedplate, for example, you'll notice the reeds are arced. Gonna get even better, but it's already here.

Subject: [Harp-L] What we would like Hohner,Seydel, etc. to do
I think its time for the major harp manufacturers to start up their own custom shops,Fender finally did and I think it's only a matter of time.I'm thinking of prices around double retail would be fair.Get more harpsters playing ,sell more harps, everybodys happy. No more "Ma n Pa" customizers, but nothing lasts forever.
