Re: [Harp-L] piccolo harmonica
Hi,
as far as I remember, the Piccolo was made in all 12 keys, but only the
keys of G, G#, A were an octave higher than standard Marine Band tuning.
I still have a C, D and F Piccolo and they are standard tuning, and I
have two A and one G, both are tuned like today's "high G" or "high A."
Like smojo my memory becomes weaker, so I had a look in an old Hohner
catalogue from the early 1980s and found my memory veryfied. But: I
don't know if the Piccolos were made in other tunings in earlier times.
That could be possible, because Hohner has changed things very often.
Nowadays the piccolo is only available in the key of C.
Greetings,
Otto
PS: When I started playing harp back in 1978, I first got a Hohner Blues
Harp in C and then a Piccolo in D, because someone had told me that John
Mayall used a Piccolo for "Room To Move". I still don't know if that is
true...
