Re: [Harp-L] Charlie Musslewhite

Charlie has received so many "Handy" awards for blues instrumentalist that
he jokes about using them for a doorstop, so he has been recognized by the
Blues Community for sure. He does get mentioned on this list from time to time as
 well.

Charlie is more adventuresome and curious about forms just outside of the
usual 12 bar shuffle feel. He has incorporated musicians from Cuba and the Blind
Boys of Alabama into his projects as well as been a guest on theirs. One of
his most recent releases caught my ear because none of the cuts were a 12 bar
 shuffle feel.

Charlie also is a great advocate of playing in 4th and 5th position.

I see his name
mentioned in passing, almost as an afterthought, but rarely do I see the
kind of praise for his music like I see regarding others. It seems to me
that he might be, dare I say, persona non grata for some unknown reason. Am
I wrong?
