Re: [Harp-L] Upright Bass Simulator
Best if the bass player understands the differences between the two sounds
and chooses to play the electric bass with a technique that will simulate the
sound of an upright. Bass player from Big Dave and the Ultrasonics (Jimmy
Rasmussen, now a part of the Toronto blues scene) was excellent in this respect.
There is a way to thumb the electric bass string with the right hand,
allowing the string to vibrate for under a second and then damping it off with the
fingers of the left hand on the fret board that sounds pretty authentically
upright when done right.

am inquiring about something/anything that will give a 4 string Fender
electric bass the sound of an upright bass. This will be switchable as needed in a
4 harp & guitar driven
blues band. Or ... stuck with an upright monster ??
Any thoughts/experiences ??
