[Harp-L] hoodoo doodoo

[Mad Dog wrote] I bought a hoodoo wireless mic set up, tried it out & sent
it back. I used it for one set and liked its Shaker Mad Cat type sound on
my acoustic style playing, but honestly if I really want a real acoustic
sound I play up to a PA vocal mic. The deep full hot electric sound (through
my Princeton Recording Amp) that I was used to with a cord or even the
Guitar Bug was missing and the feed back control on the Voodoo mic was poor
at best. I squealed like a stuck pig most of the set. Since it does not
have a volume on it I had to keep shutting it off at the belt pack whenever
I sang. That's why I went back to playing through a wire the rest of the
night and sent back the hoodoo doodoo the nest day.

I used to have an AKG Guitar Bug. Lasted about 1 & 1/2 years before the
hinge on the jack broke. (I have read since that that is common problem &
have seen some harp players duck tape them down so the don't flip
around--not sure if that works but it seem like a good idea). It does have
a very good sound and can plug into any 1/4 inch jack socket. But when the
bug broke I could not replace just the bug and would have had to buy a whole
new system. I saw Sugar Blue using a Sampson Airline (American Music
carries them) and he sounded great so I got have one of those now & like it
as much as the AKG and it does not flip around. Also it has a switch to
control the output. The AKG's signal use to be too hot for my boss delay
petal but I switch the Sampson down so it works. Sampson says they invented
the "bug style" wireless so I am hoping it lasts better than the AKG!

Hi Steve,
  Can't offer on the Hohner...
I have been using the AKG Wireless Guitar Bug and like the utility of
plugging into any of my Turner bullets, Shure 545 (Greg Heumann modded with
guitar jack and VC), etc.
Whatever wireless you get, it is cool to walk out and really hear how you
sound off stage.
  Thanks,
  Brian

Subject: [Harp-L] hoodoo hand mic

I have been contemplating trying the new Hohner Hoodoo Hand wireless
setup. I have been playing thru an SM-58 right into the PA, but am just
not quite satisfied with the sound. Plus, if I EQ it for harp, and then
want to sing harmony, it's too bassy.
Anybody here have experience, good or bad, with the Hoodoo Hand. I have
a Harp commander and it works good, but I'm curious about this new
toy.
Thanks in advance for any info.
