[Harp-L] RE: New Harp Coverplate Cleaner

I have been using gin and water to quick clean my plastic combed harps for
quite a while. I pour two or three healthy shots of gin into the glass,
then fill it with water to the point that it will cover the harps. I then
throw them in the glass for a few minutes, pull them out, thoroughly drain
them and then dry them. Doesn't seem to hurt the harp and really cuts the
deposits of "ick" on the insides. I don't even want to think about what
that "ick" floating around in the fluid actually is. And gin doesn't seem
to leave the film that mouthwash does sometimes. Can anybody think of a
reason I shouldn't do this with plastic combed diatonic harps?
