Oh, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, right, if you were to sound  
like Bob Zimmerman AFTER Bob Zimmerman sounded like that, you would  
be ... 'Another' Bob Zimmerman. So, I guess in answer to your  
query..yeah, kinda, sorta. I'm not throwing any pies here but think  
of it this way.

Dude gets up and plays Bluesette. He does a lousy job. No one says  
anything.
Dude gets up and this time it's a good job. A sojourner walks up and  
says "You sound just like that French Guy 'Toots'". (Meanwhile Jean  
Batiste Theilmanns isn't French).

Dude gets up and makes a feeble attempt at OBS, and crashes and  
burns. No one says anything.
Dude gets up and nails Rocky Top. A reveler walks up and gushes "You  
sound just like Charley McCoy".

I hear (on the one hand) from musicians that NO musician wants to be  
told that he sounds like someone else. It's considered an insult. The  
proper thing to do is tell them they did a good job and leave  
comparisons to other people out of it.
 Well then, I guess I'm not a musician, because if someone were to  
walk up to me and say "You sounded just like Stevie Wonder", I think  
I would pee my pants.
