The significance of Little Walter's induction is that it presents his name --
and reputation -- to a wider audience.

All the rest is noise: Witness the video if you must. I like Paul but as a
band leader all he did was count off the tunes ... and then clapped along with
the beat!

Maybe some people saw the introductory film that showed Walter performing and
his contemporaries talking about how great and what an original he was.

Most of the people watching this hall of fame video won't know what a
"sideman" is but they'll figure out that Little Walter was some kind of kick ass
harmonica player from watching the historical film clips that ran before Ben
Harper appeared in his white suit. And that's all that counts.

It's similar to the indirect process of giving the great R&B stars their
props in the 50s. The greatness of Rick Nelson and Pat Boone is that they
performed to a literate audience who could read the record labels and learn that
Little Richard and Fats Domino WROTE the songs performed by Rick and Pat.

In the end, the message gets out and Little Walter gets wider exposure to an
audience that never heard of him. What more could you ask for?
