Brothers and Sisters of the Tin Sandwich,

    Sometime ago I was trying to organize an Harmonica Trio. We didn't have 
access to chord harps of a bass harp. Instead We had 16 holers and a copy of 
the "Harmonica Chords" literature. I was, ahem, elected to play chord. (The 
price of 'commitment', eh?) So I was usually holding three or four harps 
simultaneously between my fingers. (An improvised "wheel" arrangement.)

    "Bass" was handled by one of the other players who would accompany and 
add a "bass" or lower octave note from the 16 hole that he was playing. 
Obviously NOT a 'true' bass effect, but the theory held up to several easy 
pieces and even one or two of the more complex pieces.

    For a chord "progression" of C-F-G you are using ony three harps. Three 
harps again for a G-C-D 'draw' progression. With a C-Am-F-G you are looking 
at holding four harps. More complex chords are either "bent", 
"tongue-blocked" or "split", octaved or some other combination.

    If you play something like "Spanish Eyes" with the half-step up...Stand 
REAL close to the additional four harps that you will need!
