I haven't contacted M-Austio about it, but I will now! I'm not paying to fix mine, this is a defect.

I have the same issue with mine - < two years old. This is just like the early ipod batteries. I use mine all the time for practice and to record gigs - it's a drag to have to have it plugged in all the time. Has anyone asked M-Audio about it?
