[Harp-L] RE: Stage presence

Remember that when you go out onto the stage you are making an a STAGE ENTRANCE.

When you come out on stage, acknowledge the audience.

You must take command of the stage and take command of the audience, as if you own them, and they are about to have the most unbelievable experience in their lives.

When you play, the emotional intensity must be as smooth as the surface of a still lake, with no ripples to break the bond between you and the audience. There is never a time when you are not aware of the audience connection while on stage.

After each performance, acknowledge the audience with a bow and thank them, AND acknowledge your fellow musicians.

When you speak with any audience members, remind them how easy it is to play for such a great audience. Everything about the stage and performance must be positive no matter what happens.

If you have trouble with nerves, prepare as best you can and then remember, when you are nervous, sometimes you play well and sometimes you don't and when you are not nervous, sometimes you play well and sometimes you don't. So it doesn't matter, go have a good time.

If you do not like your performance, as soon as you walk off stage, say "NEXT" to yourself and move on.

Harmonically yours,
