I'll add one to Iceman's list: If you like Paul deLay's sound, then, according to me (who played guitar next to him for 40 minutes as he blew through my so-so Fender De Ville to the kids at the teach-in in the hometown of 'Sonny Boy Williams') you go from full, air-tight cup to open-air no-cup, depending on what the music calls for. Amen.

The Iceman (IcemanLE@xxxxxxx) ranted:
> If you like Annie's sound, which is BIG, then, according
> to her, tight cup is not important.
>
> If you like Smith's sound, which is BIG, then according
> to him, tight cup is important.
>
> You takes your pick.
