the true answer is ;

1) minus three

2) out of the box

3) re-gapping is, at first, unnecessary

But most of all, a subject rarely discussed, either at table or on this list , is the nose.

I have found that playing the blow-bends on 8, 9 & 10 react differently according to ;

a) whether my nose is open or closed

b) if closed, the amount of pressure applied.

To test : 
play 9 blow,
try to bend the note gently,
let some air escape by the nose,
pinch the nostrils
check the difference
tell us if it helps
