Re: [Harp-L] how do I become a real pro?
Well, I'm the skeptical sort as well, so I'm going with this as a spoof. Lots of people have played for Jason (they do at every show), and perhaps sipped whiskey with George Brooks at SPAH. So those are reasonable ruses. But I'll comment anyway for those that might really consider this.
Dear Chris (I mean...er...Mike),
When I read this post what immediately came to mind was the poor kids on american idol who stand there and get crushed after an obviously *not* good performance and being told bluntly by the judges that they aren't "good enough" for that stage. They always say "NO, you're wrong! My family and friends and girlfriend have all told me I'm so great!" Forgetting to factor in that those folks may be em, biased.
Secondly, in regard to Winslow's comment "has anyone written "How to succeed in the music business for dummies"?" Well, I think the closest thing I've seen is Randy Singer's free guide available on his site (I posted about this not too long ago). Chris....er....Mike you should go there and read that.
So we know how great Jason Ricci is. And he's certainly not rich, scrapping by and almost killing himself out there on the road to do so. You've seen him play. Do you feel you are better? Much, much better? If so then post a link to your stuff, we'd love to hear it and judge for ourselves!
Please don't read this as being confrontational or sarcastic, I'm genuinely interested. We had a dude some time ago that announced he was quitting his "day job" to traverse the world in search of harmonica fame and fortune. Anyone know what happened to him?
