In the old days, the tubes got too hot. The heat would make the
paper on the speakers disintegrate. The capacitors were filled with
wax. The chassis was made from sheet metal. The heat would dry out
the wood & fabric. The receptacles were bakelyte. Nowadays. we
could put in a 'pancake' fan (if t'wern't for the hum) :)
