Counterpoint is a music compositional device, not a harmonica technique.
Also known as "polyphony," it may be used in any music style or historical
period.
Counterpoint is two or more melodies being played at the same time.
Smojoe (Joe Leone) and Vern Smith have given excellent descriptions and
examples of counterpoint.
Let's not forget Dixieland music. It's loaded with counterpoint, occasionaly
going into 3 or more melodies simultaneously.
Mozart, Beethoven, Lois Armstrong, the Harmonicats, many others were masters
of counterpoint.
